About

my avatarI, am a writer and web designer living in Rohnert Park, California which is located in the Northern California Wine Country. Until recently, I was a senior IT Project Manager for a local division of large “Fortune 500″ company. I received my in undergrad degree in Anthropology from Georgia State University. My minor was in English with an emphasis on Creative Literature. Currently, I’m continuing my writing studies through a variety of online and offline venues.

Although I now live in Sonoma County, I was born and raised in Marin County, which I still consider my home. The reference to hot tubs and peacock feathers in the short blurb on the front page is derived from a 35 year old incident (oops..just gave away my age…), what you might refer to as an urban legend, regarding Marin County. It seems there was a magazine article stating that Marin County had the second highest per capita income in the nation and one of the highest standard of living in the country. The title, I believe, was along the lines of “Marinites want is all and more”. The drawing that went along with it depicted a woman in a hot tub fanning herself with a peacock feather. In less than a week everyone was wearing and selling these t-shirts with the drawing and the caption “Yes, I want it all…and I want it now!” For a long time thereafter, every time someone heard I lived in Marin, they would ask me how my hot tub was and whether I had enough peacock feathers. It became a regional joke. So, no, I never did have a hot tub, but I wish I did. I did, however, and do have several peacock feathers. I think they are beautiful. Make of it what you will.

Writing is hard, but rewarding. I made this site so I could share my love of the written word with others. I give full credit for that love to my aunt, Rose Houston and my cousin, Johnie Cummins, from whom I found a great deal of inspiration, love and encouragement. The engine that runs this site is the magnificent product, WordPress.

I think one of the greatest attributes of the human condition is imagination, and the greatest skill one can learn is reading. If you have those two gifts, all things are possible. The ability to read opens up a lifetime of learning, adventure and excitement. No matter your personal circumstance, through stories and books, you can live the greatest adventures safely, visit exotic lands or the far reaches of the universe, and become someone you would never dare to be in real life. Nothing brings me more pleasure than the creation of imaginary worlds and situations that I and others can escape into. Although it can be sometimes frustrating, I find the whole ceremony of creativity completely enthralling.

I love soft rock, Kris Kristofferson, Pink Floyd, U2, The Eagles and Bruce Springstein (I’m dating myself again.). For music to write by, I prefer ‘world’, new age or smooth jazz (and, of course, a glass of Zinfindel). My Sci-Fi readings tend toward post-apocalyptic fiction, alternate universes and epic adventures, while my other reading habits are quite eclectic. I have yet to master a decent time paradox. I read fiction and non-fiction equally but will cheerfully state that Dan Brown is a genius, Roger Zelazny was a god, Michael Moorcock is a visionary, Gene Roddenberry was indeed the Great Bird of the Universe, and Isaac Asimov was the modern Michelangelo.

Make it so!
